Last week Lynn and I delivered the nearly 800 hats you created this Fall during our Yarn Bowl Challenge. We brought them all to More Than A Meal. This wonderful organization serves families in our area that are in need. Volunteers bring supper and it is a raucous and happy evening. This particular evening was happier than usual. My only regret is that every one of you could not be there with us.
You had knit and crocheted and loomed nearly 800 hats to give away. We brought them to the dinner. The children were called in to the back room where we had organized the hats into sizes.
They went crazy – in a very good way! They laughed. They loved. They chose just the right fashion statement to fit each personality. They came back and brought younger brothers and sisters. They came back to pick out hats for baby siblings. It was a riot of happiness.
You did a very good thing, our dear knitting community. Look at those smiles.
There may be hats left over which will be brought to the Food Pantry for distribution to more families in need.
This is the Christmas season and you reminded us of what it really means…happy children and giving.
THANK YOU for BEING WONDERFUL!!!!
