Miss Ippi in Austin

May 23rd, 2013

Ippi traveled with Susan this week for a quick but marvelous trip to Austin, Texas.  She had a most intellectually stimulating trip hanging with the sculptures.  She spent some time at the Philosophers’ Rock at Zilker Park.  We need some help to identify if it is Roy, Frank or Walter who holds her.  We are not so versed in Austin lore.

But we do know Stevie Ray Vaughn and his great music.  Obviously, Ippi is a fan.  She sat in his arms and gazed at the passersby on the Walking Trail at Lady Bird Lake.

Finally, she hung out at the home of Austin sculptor Peter Bellonci.

She soon will be back at our table spreading good cheer.  Wonder where in the world she will be next!

Jenny’s Crocheted Blanket

May 23rd, 2013

Jenny crocheted blanketJenny persevered through 12 skeins of Vintage to make this remarkable blanket.  We think it was worth all of the effort.  The colors are dramatic and is a blanket but a work of art.  Well done Jenny!

The final size is 70 X 56 and the pattern “All Angles Throw” is free on the Red Heart website.

Ellen’s Summer Sweaters

May 23rd, 2013

Ellen Grid to GoWarm weather expands Ellen’s knitting choices.  She has moved into fabulous sleeveless tops in summer-weight yarns.  The results are exciting.

First, she fell in love with “Grids to go” from Knitter’s Magazine (issue #K110).  The pattern came from the article called “Novel knits in black and white”.  She used Catania, 100% cotton in sport weight to make this amazing top.  The design was inspired by an Armani design which confirms this is high style.

This other summer sweater is from an SBKnits design called October Sun knit in three colors of Shibui Heichi, 100% silk, worsted weight.  The colors are deep and rich.  ellen octobersun

Ellen rocks and so does her knitting!

Leslie’s Linen Scarf (with a friend)

May 23rd, 2013

Our Linen ScarvesWhat is NOT to love about the Shibui Linen Scarf (Shibui Pattern).  Leslie used four colors.  Patsy used three.  Linen is fabulous and we love the weight, the curl, the length.  It is all good and gratifying to make.  A perfect summer project and addition to your summer wardrobe.

Sandra’s Twisted

May 23rd, 2013

Sandra TwistedWe all are excited by Sandra’s Twisted Vest.  It has been a popular project since Linda introduced it to us.  She recommended we use the Shibui Linen.  Sandra did a blocking class with Kathy to get the pieces just as they should be.

This one is an absolute winner!!

Janet’s First Project

May 23rd, 2013

Janet first projectJanet hung in through a few dropped and extra stitches to complete her first post-101 dishcloth project.  She chose the Be Sweet cotton striping yarn to create this fun spa cloth.  BTW – to make learning even more fun and slightly more challenging to the new knitter, Janet is left-handed.

She should be very proud of herself.  We expect great things in her knitting future.  Hang in there Janet!

Miss Ippi’s Trip to San Francisco

May 15th, 2013

ippi at table

Miss Ippi took her first trip away from Oxford.  Kathy and Dick were kind enough to include her on their trip to San Francisco.  A good time was had by all as you can see from the pictures below.  And Ippi was the perfect knitting mascot for Kathy who knit well between touring and eating (and little wining!)

Ippi is ready for her next trip.  In the meantime, she oversees our well-being in the Shop.

Welcome home Miss I. and Kathy!

Lynn’s High Relief

May 9th, 2013

The Spring 2013 Knit Wear magazine had much that caught our eye but none more than the High Relief Dolman.  Lynn dove in and the result is fabulous.  Below is in her own words:lynn dolman

I knit this on Weekend DK. I loved the yarn as it never split and the stitch definition is wonderful.

The pattern was easy-peazy. The sweater is knit in the round through all shaping and is divided at the top and knit straight then rejoined with a three needle bind off.

In my opinion, this style will work for most body types as the emphasis is straight across the the top which broadens shoulders and highlights the face. The upside down triangle helps to slenderize.

Lillian’s Remix Throw

May 5th, 2013

Lillian Remix blanketLIllian had a stash of Remix left from the many projects she made with this aran-weight, washable, wonderful yarn.  She designed the throw to good advantage.  We love what she has created and expect someone is going to be very happy wrapped in it!
