New from Swans IslandDecember 4, 2015
We love Swans Island yarns. Once you knit with any of the wools you will surely feel the same. What is not to love. Their All-American, hand-dyed yarn has an elegant and sturdy hand. We are pleased to announce the introduction of another in their line, Rambouillet. (more…)

Out with the Old, In with the New!December 2, 2015
We chose three fabulous yarns that are accompanied by great patterns and offer them to the lucky few at a special rate. Once they are gone, they are gone.
We find ourselves in need of more space and there are bins with only a few skeins of a particular yarn. It is one of those win-win things: You get glorious yarn at a discount and we get more space in which you will find brand new yarns! The yarns are delicious, the patterns perfect and you get to spend a little less. Everyone is happy!
Swans Island Tussah Silk – this incredible sport weight yarn has been discontinued. What we have is what you can get. We offer two pattern options that make a perfect small cowl. It is a delight and only needs two skeins. Buy one, get the second at 1/2 price!
Big Bad Wool – A soft, washable wool/alpaca worsted weight yarn is useful for any number of great knit items. A baby blanket or hat would be perfect. Kathy knit a pair of boot toppers with the yarn (2 skeins) that are beautiful. We have the pattern and the yarn and now you can buy it for 20% off!
We also have a new magic word for you! Come into the Shop and say the words JELLY BEAN and you will get a nice little gift. The words are magical until the 12th or while supplies of the gift remain.
Rebekah’s HatNovember 22, 2015
Rebekah has just learned to knit, but she is taking to it like a duck to water! She has just finished her second hat, made with Kathmandu, and it is wonderful. She is quite enamored and is planning on moving on to scarves next. Great job, Rebekah!
If you are working with Knit1 yarn, we would love for you to bring your finished projects into the Shop. We love oohing and aahing over the final result with you and we may just put your work on the blog!
Welcome to the New Website!November 16, 2015
Welcome to our new site! Everything that once was here is still here. It just looks softer and kinder and, we hope, is easier to navigate. We turned 5 in August and thought it was time to refresh. We hope you love it.
As with most things technological, it is a work in progress. Always. We welcome any compliments or critiques. We want to make this fun and easy for you to see all that we are and all that is going on at the Shop.
To celebrate our launch, we introduce you to the Secret Word. This is an obvious way to bring you to the website. From time-to-time, in emails, on facebook, or sometimes hiding in plain site, we will give a “secret word”. Within a specified time if you come in or call the Shop you tell us the word and get a prize! A game to love!
The secret word to thank you for your visit to the site is WELCOME. Come in or call us by December 1 and say the magic word. You will receive 10% off everything you buy (except handmade goods)!

The Soft Hoot of Owl and a Shawl JourneyNovember 8, 2015
The soft hoot of Owl and a Shawl Journey!
I love Owl! This wonderful Quince yarn has captured my heart. The 50/50 blend of American wool and alpaca is soft and squishy, and knits like a dream. I created the Rikochan Shawl from Quince’s Shawls 5 book. This eye-catching shawl has garnered much attention at the shop.
The curated collection of patterns in the Quince Scarves, ect .4 book were calling to me, so I began the Wending Cowl, which has a very interesting pattern and construction. Meanwhile, I have completed the Sherwood Mitts – a quick and fun knit (they can be done on double points or 2 circs instead of the magic loop as written in the pattern).
I will be hosting a Shawl KAL on Friday, November 20 from 10 AM to noon. Join me and begin a project from the Quince shawl collection, or choose another pattern of your choice.
Out of town? Call me, and I will send you what you will need!
